Abstract
This talk will focus on variational methods used for the reconstruction, processing and analysis of biomedical images in three spatial dimensions, with a strong focus on applications in fluorescence microscopy and positron emission tomography. Although operating with different technology and at different scales, the way data are obtained by (random) photon counts yields a natural connection for mathematical imaging techniques, which we will explain in this talk.
Finally we will discuss extensions in case of a fourth (time or spectral) dimension and discuss applications to dynamic PET , live microscopy, and Raman microspectroscopy.
Series This talk is part of the Seminars on Quantitative Biology @ CRUK Cambridge Institute series.
