Abstract

Clare Foster will start off the term’s seminar series by challenging some of the myths surrounding the art of screenwriting.

Until she came to Cambridge a year ago, Clare was a British screenwriter based in LA. She has worked with Mike Newell and Kristin Scott Thomas for companies like Disney, Film Four and Fox Searchlight. She has adapted novels by John Updike, Elizabeth Jane Howard, Sebastian Faulks and non-fiction by Norman Lewis, Flora Fraser, and Debra Kogan. Her original screenplays and treatments have won awards, been optioned, and developed. Her short film ‘The Lemon Tree’ won awards at Mesnil-le-Roi, Malta and San Sebastian films festivals. Her background before film school was in theatre.
