The Value of Monitoring Information in Decentralized Power System Maintenance

As various monitoring techniques for power system maintenance have been proposed, academics have examined approaches to quantify the competitiveness of the monitoring-based maintenance. In the seminar, I introduce an approach to explore the monitoring value in decentralized power system maintenance. The approach uses a discrete-time Markov chain, and then it is applied to the residential photovoltaic system maintenance case. The analysis suggests that, while the monitoring value is always positive for system owners under our assumptions, there are a couple of conditions on having positive monitoring value for a maintainer.
