Abstract
Dr Diane Lister is a part of the multidisciplinary Food Globalization in Prehistory project (FOGLIP; http://www.foglip.mcdonald.cam.ac.uk/) and is based in the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. The research presented today describes the use of molecular genetics methods to establish when and how the early globalisation of staple foodstuffs happened across the Eurasian continent. In particular, a phylogeographic study of the eastward spread of the Southwest Asian crops barley and wheat using different genetic markers will be discussed in relation to various archaeological questions.
