Abstract
Dr John Richer will be giving a talk on his work as the UK’s project scientist for ALMA - the Atacama Large Millimeter Array. ALMA is an international partnership between Europe, North America, East Asia and the Republic of Chile to build the most ambitious ground-based telescope yet and the largest astronomical project in existence. It will enable transformational research into the physics of the cold Universe, probe the first stars and galaxies, and directly image the formation of planets. Dr Richer is a University Reader researching star formation and a Fellow of Churchill College.
