Abstract
A combination of hotter x-ray beams (both at synchrotrons and lab-sources) coupled with the development of more sensitive and fast detectors have led to massive reductions in the time taken to collect x-ray data. That, coupled with the rise of fragment screening by x-ray crystallography, has led to a similarly massive increase in the numbers of data sets to process, to the point where manual processing of individual data sets becomes rate limiting.
autoPROC is a “expert” one-click system developed by Global Phasing, to automatically and intelligently process x-ray data. This talk will describe the design and use of autoPROC for automated data processing and also give some examples of the importance of data collection strategy.
