Are there any differences in the brains of people who are experts in maths versus those who have more average or bad mathematical abilities? Can we enhance mathematical abilities? If so, for how long and what the costs or side effects of doing so? What is it that we have to change in the brain to make people better at maths?

These are just some of the questions Roi Cohen Kadoch will answer in his talk on Tuesday. He is a Wellcome Trust RCD Fellow (University of Oxford). His lab’s work focuses on several fields including numerical cognition, synaesthesia, cortical and neuronal specialisation, skill learning and automaticity, and combine behavioural testing of typical and atypical populations together with neuroscientific methods such as fMRI, and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques.

The talk will be free for members and 2ÂŖ for non-members. Afterwards there will be a reception with free food and wine.
