Marine Seismic to Climate Models: Using streamer data to understand ocean currents
- đ¤ Speaker: Timothy Grant
- đ Date & Time: Thursday 24 May 2012, 13:10 - 14:00
- đ Venue: Entertaining Room, Darwin College
Abstract
Knowing how ocean currents behave, on the scale of a few kilometers, is important for both conducting marine seismic surveys and producing accurate climate models. In this talk I will outline the goals, motivations and necessary background, of a joint project between the British Antarctic Survey and Schlumberger to estimate ocean currents using the data from towed acoustic streamers.
