Abstract
The talk will cover the different quantum phases of ultracold bosonic atoms in a periodic one dimensional optical superlattice. The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method in the framework of the Bose-Hubbard model will be used to obtain these phases for a wide range of densities and superlattice potentials.
At commensurate fillings, the emergence of the Mott insulator and the superfluid phases as well as Mott insulators induced by the superlattice will be discussed. Results showing the coexistence of the superfluid phase with density oscillations at a particular incommensurate filling for a certain range of parameters of the sysytem will be presented
