Epigenetics: The secret key to health
- 👤 Speaker: Speaker to be confirmed
- 📅 Date & Time: Thursday 31 May 2012, 16:30 - 19:00
- 📍 Venue: Hughes Hall, Mortimer Road, Cambridge, UK
Abstract
Not all traits and diseases can be explained in our DNA sequence. Discoveries in the field of epigenetics – the study of heritable changes which do not involve alterations to the DNA sequence itself – offer an important contribution to our understanding of human health. This free seminar combines an overview of epigenetics with examples of its application in treating and preventing disease.
Speakers are: Dr Nessa Carey, Senior Director, Pfizer and author of “The epigenetics revolution – how modern biology is rewriting our understanding of genetics, disease and inheritance” and Prof. Anne Ferguson-Smith, Professor of Developmental Genetics, University of Cambridge.
The seminar is free but we do ask you to register.
There will be tea, cake and wine afterwards – so please come along and enjoy some good discussion and networking.
Series This talk is part of the Translating genomics series.
