Numerical simulation of condensed-phase explosives
- đ¤ Speaker: Dr Nikolaos Nikiforakis (University of Cambridge)
- đ Date & Time: Thursday 31 May 2012, 11:30 - 12:30
- đ Venue: Open Plan Area, BP Institute, Madingley Rise CB3 0EZ
Abstract
The topic of the seminar is the numerical simulation of condensed, two-phase, chemically active, energetic materials under compliant confinement. Of particular interest is the propagation of detonation waves in non-ideal commercial-grade explosives and their interaction with the surrounding material. The background application, governing equations, numerical methods and results will be presented. Issues related to the mathematical formulation of the system and to its numerical solution will be discussed.
