Abstract

Our knowledge of genetics and genomics is burgeoning and new discoveries have the potential to transform health care delivery in the UK. However, clinical implementation of such innovations is not a straightforward process and often requires careful consideration of the wider health policy context and the opportunities and barriers to implementation.

This free seminar gives an overview of the policy context for clinical implementation and some examples of the progress of genomics in the NHS .

Speakers Dr Mark Bale, Interim Director of Health Science & Bioethics in the Department of Health will talk about the past, present and future policy context for implementing genomics within the NHS Dr Shehla Mohammed MD FRCP , Consultant Clinical Geneticist and Head of Service at Guy’s Hospital, will talk about implementing genomic applications in the NHS and views of the future.
