When an Anglo-Saxon ship was found buried at Sutton Hoo in 1939, it changed perceptions of the ‘Dark Ages’ in Britain. It changed the lives of those who discovered it and interpreted it – the excavators, archaeologists and subsequent scholars. But many others have been inspired by their association with this very special place.
