Abstract
This presentation outlines and cross-references the outcomes of ongoing arts education research at the University of Melbourne that has examined engagement in the arts, and the artistβs roles and identities in diverse contexts. The outcomes stemming from this research include the development of interpretive frameworks for participant engagement, indications of the positive relationship between engagement and informal learning practices, and further articulation of the context-specific conditions that enable or circumscribe the capacity of artists to engage children and youth.
