Abstract
I investigate the prospects for constraining alternative theories of gravity with a new observational technique, the 21 cm intensity map. I will discuss the merits of this approach, and demonstrate the existence of new large-scale contributions to the signal from relativistic effects. I will also address the issue of how best to parameterise modified gravity in the cosmological setting.
