Abstract
In the first talk, I want to discuss the basic principles of Bayesian inference applied to inverse problems. First, I will outline the concepts behind this methodology, point to connections to variational regularization and ridge regression and highlight some possible benefits of Bayesian inference over other approaches. After that, I will focus on the process of Bayesian modeling, In addition, I will address some common objections against the explicit use of Bayesian techniques in practice and discuss some recent results and trends in this area.
