Abstract
In this talk I will discuss the ambiguous relationship between theoretical models of individuals and theoretical models of groups. Making the inference from one to the other implies being able to put variance in observations in its just place. We will discuss some of my recent findings which unpack group averages with a view to examining individual children’s profiles. Examples will be drawn from my studies on how children develop an understanding of the physical and social worlds, with typically developing children and some who have been identified on the autism spectrum.
