Analysis of Biochemical Networks in Bioinformatics

Abstract
Insights into the molecular interactions in biochemical pathways is critical in biological discovery, for example in uncovering the design principles of biological organisms, understanding how diseases develop or discovering novel or more potent drugs. Novel data mining protocols for network analysis are presented and involve computational representation of network properties, integration of data from various sources and mathematical techniques to detect modules in protein networks. The use of data classification methods is also discussed in deriving disease subgroups with similar gene expression signatures in skin inflammation. Overall, such methods have the potential to enhance understanding of mechanisms in pathological conditions, as well as to offer a comprehensive view of disease network dynamics.
