Abstract
I shall describe my work this year in extending Mark Ashdown’s Escritoire, the desk-sized projected display in the Rainbow Room. It presents electronic documents as life-sized sheets of virtual paper and uses stylus input.
I aimed to extend the Escritoire to address many of the problems associated with reading from multiple electronic source documents. I will discuss the problem of recognising hand gestures on a projected display, and describe how hand gestures can be used to organise and navigate virtual paper documents.
