Abstract
I will review the use of higher spin symmetry in conformal field theories (CFTs). First, I will demonstrate that the theory is essentially free when the higher spin symmetry is present. Then I will discuss different ways of breaking the higher spin symmetry. This will lead to the idea of 3d bosonization and prediction of certain critical exponents in the 3d Ising model.
