Abstract
A special CMS Colloquium is scheduled for Thursday 25th April. It is planned as two talks to be given at 2pm and 4pm, MR2 by Pierre Cartier, separated by tea (served at 3.15pm) and followed by a reception. Professor Cartier’s title and abstract are as follows.
Galois theory can be considered as a theory of hidden symmetries , symmetries which are not easily seen from the governing equations of the processes . We view Connes presentation of the renormalization group in physics as another incarnation ot this Galois philosophy . We give in this way a partial explanation, of two important features :
- the physical fundamental constants are “running”;
- the explicit constants coming fromm the physical models are very often connected with the Riemann zeta function.
Series This talk is part of the CMS Colloquia series.
