Disorder driven superconductor-insulator transition: Do Cooper pairs still exist in the insulator?

Abstract
I will discuss our theoretical and numerical results for the disorder-driven superconductor-insulator transition that predict the existence of a novel insulator of pairs. We find that the single particle gap and optical conductivity evolve in unexpected ways across the transition and are supported by recent scanning tunneling spectroscopy and THz conductivity experiments.
