Abstract
Shannon’s channel coding theorem proves the existence of capacity achieving codes without giving one. Polar codes, introduced by Arikan, can achieve the capacity of arbitrary discrete memoryless symmetric channels. In this talk, we present an overview of polar coding techniques with focus on its construction. We then discuss our ongoing work.
