Conventional X-ray CT has garnered great popularity for a broad range of clinical imaging applications. Recent advances in hardware development towards energy-resolved X-ray CT, also referred to as spectral CT, have unlocked a new dimension of X-ray CT imaging. In particular, K-edge CT can be used to selectively and quantitatively image contrast agents loaded with so called K-edge materials. In this talk, this emerging imaging technique is introduced and the task of image reconstruction in spectral CT is discussed.
