Abstract
In addition to the genes they pass on to their offspring, mothers and fathers can influence the development of their offspring via parental effects. For example, offspring behavior can be affected by maternal hormones deposited in eggs or the parental care provided during early development. In my talk, I will describe how the behavior and survival of threespined stickleback offspring are influenced by the stress experienced by mothers, the care provided by fathers and the interaction between these maternal and paternal effects.
