This spectacular Chemistry lecture and demonstration will excite and stimulate young and old alike. Colin Baker will perform some classic Chemistry demonstrations of the type not normally seen in ordinary school science lessons. These will include explosive foam, rockets, smoke bombs, not to mention unusual applications of chemiluminescence.

Colin Baker, Director of Studies at Bedford School, was awarded the Salter’s Institute Medal in a competition to find the country’s best Chemistry teachers. He has lectured at the Universities of Birmingham and St Andrews and has shared the stage with Nobel Laureate, Professor Sir Harry Kroto FRS at London University. In Jan 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Shaw Medal for maintaining the tradition of the demonstration Lecture. The medal and lecture is named after Colonel Brian Shaw who began giving his (ultimately very famous) chemistry lectures in 1928.
