Fingers, bulges and wrinkles - some contact line problems

Abstract
The dynamics of a fluid film advancing over a plane is often sensitively controlled by surface tension. This dictates the spreading rate of a drop and leads to the fingering of a falling film. In this talk I will describe some related situations in which surface tension competes with a non-Newtonian fluid rheology or is replaced by the stresses of an elastic surface.
