Abstract
Modern synthesis methods allow for obtaining colloidal nano- and microparticles with highly defined properties. With these particles detailed studies about their interaction with the environment are possible. This will be described for the cases of adsorption of counter ions and proteins [1, 2] and impact on interaction with cells will be discussed [3, 4]. Some in vitro sensing and delivery applications will be highlighted [5, 6].
