Abstract
John Parker, former Director of Cambridge University Botanic Garden, will describe Darwin’s visit in 1835, explore the geological and biological sites that greeted him, and consider what influence these experiences had on his thinking. He will compare Darwin’s voyage with the situation that visitors will find today, and consider our understanding of the islands in the light of evolution.
