Abstract
The next session of the ongoing Screen Media Group seminar series in which Dr. Mark Goodall (University of Bradford) will be presenting ‘George Perec’s Scene of a Flight: Mnemotechnics on Screen’. Dr. Goodall is a senior lecture at the University of Bradford whose books, “Gathering of the Tribe: music and heavy conscious creation” (2013), and “Sweet and Savage: the world through the shockumentary film lens ” (2006) present exemplary studies of media produced by counter-cultural movements.
This seminar presents a continuation of the ongoing Screen Media lecture series Mnemotechnics and the Archive, which considers the ways in which individual, institutional and social memories have been understood to relate to media forms that participate in their inscription, subversion, perpetuation and effacement.
Georges Perec was a French novelist, essayist, filmmaker, and documentalist whose works such as ‘La Vie mode d’emploi’ and ‘La disparition’ (infamous for having been written without the letter ‘e’) are as innovative as they are challenging.
