Abstract
We’re delighted to welcome Dr Tony Bishop, Co-founder and Director of e-Go Aeroplanes – a Cambridge start-up formed to develop and manufacture advanced light aircraft.
Tony will be talking about the formation of e-Go and how the small team got the company off-the-ground (so to speak). He will cover their story, including the industrial design process, how to market on a zero-budget and how they have gone about raising finance through crowd-funding as well as more traditional investment routes.
The e-Go is a futuristic light aircraft, creating a new market in a highly competitive arena. It is exciting to fly, but is also an aesthetic, ergonomic and very efficient single-seater plane.
The e-Go is being developed near Cambridge for world markets with the prototype aircraft currently undergoing flight tests. The e-Go achieves a breakthrough in low weight and high performance using a combination of novel technologies. It is also being developed at remarkably low cost.
The project has been made possible with a combination of unusual design, novel business model, local F1 and aerospace expertise and world-leading UK de-regulation. The presentation will highlight some key aspects of the project including its market niche, novel technologies, the building of the e-Go community using social media, the evolving business model, and the impact of deregulation. You can find out more about the e-Go on their company directory page.
