Abstract
A non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry is an important candidate for explaining the patterns of the lepton mixing and the quark mixing. In the lepton mixing, the tri-bimaximal pattern is an interesting approximation for $\theta_{13}=0$ and many models have been proposed so far. However, the recent experiments show large $\theta_{13}$, so we need some modifications. One way of modifications is to take an alternative flavor symmetry, which generates non-zero $\theta_{13}$ at the leading order. On the other hand, the pattern of the quark mixing is another mystery in the Standard Model. Since the Cabibbo angle is as large as $\theta_{13}$ in the lepton mixing, the Cabibbo angle could also be generated by the flavor symmetry. In this talk, through the systematic search for flavor symmetries, we propose a flavour symmetry which generates both the lepton mixing and the Cabibbo angle.
