Abstract
The initial steps for the derivation of a new subdivision scheme based on half-box splines are discussed. The scheme can be thought of as the dual of Loop’s scheme, and can therefore be a applied to any three-valent mesh. We also take a brief look at a classification method for subdivision schemes using the concept of rep-tiles.
