Abstract
The Malaysian science curricula across disciplines and grade levels, place great emphasis on the acquisition of science process skills. Therefore, assessing students’ acquisition of science process skills is an important aspect in the teaching and learning of science. While the Malaysian science teachers measure students’ acquisition of science process skills through the school-based Practical Work Assessment, problems arise in the actual implementation that render the assessment as an inaccurate reflection of the level of science process skills acquisition of individual students. This presentation introduces a complementary approach to measuring science process skills objectively by means of an inventory, describing its development, validation and utilisation.
