Abstract
Winton Scholar Kerstin Göpfrich will host this discussion.
The $1,000 genome has been a catchphrase of the sequencing industry for years. Since the start of this year, it may finally be within reach, triggering a factory-scale demand of human genome sequencing. In this journal club, I will introduce mainstream and competing technologies, specifically nanopore sequencing, enabling the rapid decrease in sequencing time and cost. After a brief snapshot on DNA origami, the discussion might evolve around opportunities and risks associated with genome sequencing and DNA nanotechnology.
