Semantic Modelling of Point Clouds for Infrastructure
- π€ Speaker: Viorica Patraucean Research Associate - Structures Group

- π Venue: Cambridge University Engineering Department, LR5
Abstract
Building Information Models (BIMs) are becoming the official standard in the construction industry for encoding, reusing, and exchanging information about structural assets. Automatically generating such representations for existing assets is the focus of extended research efforts in various communities (Computer Vision, Civil Engineering, Geometry Processing). The main steps involved in the process are: 3D reconstruction, geometric modelling, and point cloud to BIM conversion. In this talk, the first two steps will be discussed, and on-going research works will be presented, targeting the semantic modelling of point clouds of bridges.
