Abstract
The last years have seen an increasing interest of the lattice community towards the phenomenology of the charm quark, following a flourishing period in which experiments have discovered new features of charmed hadrons, such as the neutral D mesons mixing, an unexpected amount of CP-violation in D0->KK/PP decays, and the existence of X, Y and Z states not explicable in the context of quark models. The recently-opened possibility of considering physical-mass charm quarks in lattice simulations granted theoretical physicists a powerful tool to study the properties of the charm quark from the first principle of the theory with unprecedented precision. In this talk I will discuss the way in which modern lattice QCD methods can provide handles to perform tighter tests on the flavour sector of the Standard Model and unveil the possible presence of New Physics through the study of leptonic & semileptonic decays of D mesons, and radiative decays of the charmonia system.
