Abstract
Julian Conrad will be presenting his work on the structure of the DNA Replication Machinery.
Copying the potential genetic information prior to cell division is important in order for life to continue. The process called DNA replication is mediated by a specific machinery: the DNA polymerase holoenzyme.
Recent advances in electron cryo-microscopy made it possible to determine its structure, shining new light on how the polymerase is activated by its partner proteins and providing a mechanism on how the polymerase is released at the end of the process.
