Abstract
Suppose that we have a sequence (with some nice properties) of smooth projective varieties and would like to think about its “limit”. One way to do so is by considering the limit as an algebraic degeneration (flat limit), but we can also think about the limit as a metric space (Gromov-Hausdorff limit), by recalling that a smooth projective variety can be endowed with a Riemannian structure. Donaldson and Sun proved, under some technical hypotheses, that these limits are “equal”. The aim of this talk is to briefly review this result, starting with the definition of Gromov-Hausdorff limit.
