Inflammation-driven angiogenesis - organ fibrosis & the extracellular matrix

Abstract
“The infiltration of inflammatory cells into hypoxic tissue microenvironments and subsequent formation of new blood vessels or remodelling of existing vasculature are central features of physiological wound healing responses. These are also pathophysiological processes of tumour angiogenesis and tissue fibrosis, which could be conceived of as “aberrant” wound healing. Our lab aims to:
- decipher how inflammatory cell-driven remodelling of the vasculature affects these processes, and
- develop therapeutic strategies by exploiting the beneficial impact of the inflammatory response and vascular remodelling.”
