Abstract
Many cultures in the world have different languages. While some of these languages are still in use today, others are being pushed by the wayside for globalization. I will focus on some fading dialects of modern languages, and languages that are on the brink of extinction. Mayan will be a key language that I will cover, due to my two-year experience with the people and language in the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico, and will show what is being done to preserve the language and how that can apply to other languages worldwide.
