Abstract
We are thrilled to announce the 2014 Cambridge International Development Conference, in collaboration with Cambridge Hub. The theme of the conference is ‘From Diversity to Sustainable Development’, with keynote speaker Ann Cotton of CamFed. We’re looking forward to an exciting day of discussion, exploring the diversity of people, goals, and approaches in sustainable development. The conference will feature two debates set in the Cambridge Union’s stunning Debate Chamber. In the morning we’ll be discussing approaches to sustainable development, and debating the role of volunteering. In the afternoon we’ll take a look at sustainable development in practice and the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. Our speakers will feature in a panel discussion, looking forward from the Millennium Development Goals to the Sustainable Development Goals.
We’re excited to hear from Ann Cotton, founder of CamFed, as our keynote speaker. Ann was recently announced winner of the WISE Prize Laureate, a major international prize, in recognition of her inspiring work supporting community-owned, integrated education programmes for girls and young women in rural Africa. CamFed was founded by Ann in 1993, and have gone on to do truly amazing work empowering young girls in rural Africa through education.
With the 2015 deadline fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to talk about the future of development, and how we can put diversity on the agenda. Tickets are now on sale and can be found via the website. You can follow the IDC on twitter and Facebook, and find out more about the success of the 2013 conference on the website.
