Abstract
The African Partnership for Chronic Disease Research (APCDR) was established in 2010 and currently spans six countries across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
Through a coordinated research network, APCDR facilitates collaborative and multidisciplinary population research into non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.
By developing strategies for data harmonisation, shared resources, and by bringing together epidemiological studies and research expertise and infrastructure across sub-Saharan Africa, APCDR provides new opportunities to more reliably assess the burden of NCDs and their risk factors across the region. This approach will help develop preventative and control strategies for these diseases.
