Abstract
I will discuss recent work which develops the theory of complex multiplication in the setting of Nekovar and Scholl’s “plectic motives”. In particular I will describe an explicit description of the plectic analogue of the Taniyama group. This generalises a theorem of Deligne in the classical case, and explains the ‘hidden symmetries’ in the classical theory of complex multiplication observed by Nekovar.
