Fracturing of geomaterials
- đ¤ Speaker: Professor Kenichi Soga, CUED
- đ Date & Time: Friday 20 February 2015, 14:00 - 15:00
- đ Venue: Oatley Seminar Room, Department of Engineering
Abstract
This talk will give an overview of various fracturing phenomena observed in geomaterials for engineering applications in geotechnical engineering (grouting) and petroleum geomechnics (hydraulic fracturing). Results from experimental work and numerical simulations conducted at CUED will be presented. Various microscopic mechanisms of fracturing of geomaterials will be discussed.
