Abstract
Prof Federico Ferrini from the University of Pisa gives a talk on gravitational waves – see the abstract below for more details.
Admission is free to CUPS members, or ÂŖ2 otherwise. As always, wine and cheese will be served after the talk.
(Abstract:) Inspired by Einstein’s deduction of the emission of Gravitational Waves, physicists have developed brilliant ideas to reveal these elusive signals.
After resonant bars, now very large ground-based interferometric detectors are at the forefront of this centennial hunt. The joint LIGO & Virgo Collaborations are confident to conclude “La Queste Del Saint Graal” of General Relativity in a few years.
