Abstract
In this talk I will review recent experimental results on the measurement of top quark mass and their relation to open theoretical issues about the physics of the Standard Model and beyond.
With the goal of getting a better understanding of these issues, I will present a class of new top quark mass measurement techniques. The proposed measurement determines the top quark mass from the position of the peak of the energy distribution of the top quark decay products (for instance bottom quark jets or hadrons). Preliminary results on the top quark mass determination from energy distributions computed at Next to Leading Order in QCD will be presented.
