Abstract

The focus of my research is the development of creative writers’ identities in the context of mentoring and HE teaching relationships. Fieldwork is complete using the combined methodologies of narrative inquiry and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Findings have been drafted in sections relating to the perception of self and relationships with mentors and tutors as well as the writers’ work and wider contexts. This seminar is about work in progress and will focus on the development of the argument for my thesis, arising from the findings. This should provide a platform for discussion of the implications of this research for our understanding of the nature of creative writers’ identities and the significant qualities of such learning relationships.
