Abstract
A journey from Green Academy (2011) to strategic intent (2014), via an innovative academic development project: The Futures Initiative. Initiated in 2011 and embedded in the Strategic Framework (2015-2020), Sustainability and ESD has taken on a pivotal role. Was this accidental and the doors already open?; Or was leadership at the heart of this transformation and If so, what form did it take, and what lessons can we learn.
Dr Peter Rands has been Director of Sustainability Development at CCCU since 2010. He led the Green Academy team, initiated the Futures Initiative and provides overarching leadership for “full-service” sustainability. Prof Janet Haddock-Fraser has been Dean of Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences and a member of the senior management team since 2012, and is Professor of Corporate Social and Environmental Sustainability.
