Abstract
This talk will discuss findings from a series of projects that have explored the use of novel digital notations to represent and manipulate artistic products with respect to alternative structuring principles. The introduction will review our experiments in dance, sculpture and visual arts, each of which has explored novel ways of structuring creative processes and conceptualisations. The main body of the discussion will then focus on music live coding, and particularly on Sam Aaron’s Sonic Pi system, as a concrete context in which representations of information structure are offered to the audience as an analytic accompaniment to an audio work. This part of the talk will be illustrated by live examples of performance with Sonic Pi.
